Iranian Ambassadors Interview and discussion with the Polish Newspaper Rzeczpospolita

Issa Kameli, the Iranian Ambassador, spoke about the importance of Iran-Poland bilateral relations built upon a rich historical basis and significant geographical and historical commonalities between the two countries. Expressing satisfaction with the close people-to-people ties between Iran and Poland, he stressed the necessity of maintaining and strengthening these relations on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of official relations between them.

The Iranian Ambassador to Poland recalled that recently, there has been an "incomprehensible" concern expressed over the process of cooperation between Iran and Russia, two countries that are currently under sanctions. The Islamic Republic of Iran expects that, just as Iran respects the foreign policy direction of other countries, others should recognize Iran’s concerns and respect its foreign policy orientation.

In response to a reporter's question regarding the recent attacks on nuclear facilities, he pointed to the "clear aggression" by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran’s nuclear facilities, which was condemned by 120 countries worldwide. He then criticized European countries for applying a "double standard" concerning this blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, as well as for the illegal reinstatement of canceled UN sanctions against Iran.

Mr. Kameli, answering a question about the extent of the damage to Iran's nuclear infrastructure resulting from the mentioned attacks, stated: "It is clear that some facilities and buildings were destroyed in these attacks, and assessments are being finalized by the relevant authorities, but the aggressors cannot destroy the nuclear knowledge and science of Iran's youth, because due to illegal sanctions, this knowledge has been domesticated and developed in Iran."

Referring to the repeated miscalculation and inability of the US government to accurately and precisely assess the behavior of the Iranian people, the Iranian Ambassador to Poland said: "Americans do not have a real understanding of what is happening in Iran, neither in the period before the victory of the Revolution, when they had the largest foreign embassy in Iran, nor now, when they merely rely on the advice of the Israeli Prime Minister."

Expressing surprise at the repetition of the claim regarding Iran's support for Russia in the war against Ukraine in the Polish political and media sphere, he said: "There is no evidence to confirm this claim, and even some Ukrainian defense ministry officials have acknowledged that Iran is not providing military support to Russia."

Dr. Kameli simultaneously emphasized that close cooperation in many areas has existed between Iran and Russia long before the Ukraine crisis, part of which is a result of the imposition of illegal US sanctions and restrictions. He added: "When the European Union shuts the door on a country that is facing all kinds of threats and sanctions, it is natural for that country to seek out other partners in the world to ensure the fulfillment of its needs."
